Charleston, South Carolina: where world-class golf meets Southern hospitality—and some of the best food you’ll ever eat. This 3-day trip packed in epic golf, Lowcountry charm, and enough good eats to make me consider an extra gym session. Here’s how it all went down:
We touched down in Charleston and wasted no time—straight to Kiawah Island Ocean Course, where the views are jaw-dropping, the ocean breezes are humbling, and the greens will make you question your putting skills. Pete Dye definitely had a sense of humor designing this one, but we managed to survive and even take a few decent photos (pro tip: pretend you’re lining up a putt for Instagram).
Post-round, we headed downtown to refuel at Husk, where they take Southern food to the next level. Fried chicken, cornbread, and bourbon—it’s a food coma waiting to happen, but hey, we earned it after battling Kiawah’s winds.
We hit the road early for the scenic drive to Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, and wow, it didn’t disappoint. The course is stunning, the lighthouse finish is iconic, and let’s just say I “enjoyed the scenery” on a few wayward shots. Afterward, we hustled back to Charleston for dinner at Hank’s Seafood Restaurant, where I may or may not have eaten my body weight in shrimp. We wrapped up the night wandering the cobblestone streets and talking about our “hero shots” (and conveniently forgetting the bad ones).
For the final round, we stayed closer to home and teed it up at The Links at Wild Dunes. This course is pure coastal vibes—seaside holes, relaxed pace, and just challenging enough to keep things interesting. It was the perfect way to wind down after two big days.
Of course, no trip to Charleston is complete without one last food stop. Enter Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit, where the biscuits are buttery magic and the shrimp and grits will ruin you for life (in the best way possible). We spent the rest of the day exploring King Street and soaking up the historic charm of The Battery before reluctantly heading to the airport.
Charleston is the ultimate golf getaway: top-notch courses, unbeatable food, and a city full of charm. Whether you’re chasing birdies or just here for the shrimp and grits, this place has you covered. Just bring your appetite—for golf and food—and maybe leave some room in your bag for a few extra snacks.
I’ll be back, Charleston. Until next time, keep it in the fairway (or at least near it). golf trips
